HERE'S A SMALL TASTE OF THE TALENT THAT FREQUENTS THE FLY...
CUSTOM ROYAL
Custom Royal is a rock quartet consisting of members Dion Mariani (guitar), Mitchell MacKintosh (guitar), Cameron O’Loughlin (bass), Darcy Barnard (drums), and have been described as, “The punchy rock sound Perth is missing.”
With influences like Led Zeppelin, The Who and The Beatles shaping their Rock/Pop sound how could you go wrong?
The band has been playing a myriad of local shows supporting the likes of Datura, Kevin Borich and many others.
With new exciting songs continuing to pump out, more gigs and the possibility of an EP on the horizon the band is gaining momentum and spreading the word... Custom Royal!!!
Jasmine Riley and the Distractions emerged on the Perth music scene in January ’11 with an awesome debut at Mojo’s. Jasmine’s original tunes have been fleshed out and strengthened by incredible talents of the Distractions, who are Chris Summerfield on guitar and slide guitar, Josh van Bruchem on drums and percussion and Nicole Hobby on viola.
Their style has been described as ‘strong, yet vulnerable,’ ‘intimate,’ and ‘emotional,’ with lyrics that are easy to identify with and, well, just plain honest. In terms of genre, they float somewhere in the realms of folk and alternative rock.
Influences include great Aussie singer/song-writers such as (though not limited to): Angus & Julia Stone, Clare Bowditch, Lior, Missy Higgins, Paul Kelly, Sarah Blasko and The Waifs.
“Jugular” was a name formed suddenly and inexplicably on the basis that it sounds like a description of tits but is in fact a set of veins. Specifically veins which bring the pressure of blood from the head down into the heart to be pumped on through the body.
So there came it's next set of meanings, a point in an organic network, thus the Jugular Collective was born. Put together to throw events into being, an Open platform for visual artists, performers and people. A non-profit effort with good intentions to see what you can do with a community of strangers and friends. The semblance of actual organisation has been lost at times but the momentum continues. We keep throwing up original nights each month with their own quirks and chaos tottering fresh into the world or bursting righteous and clumsy. Our artists step forward or are sought out and we are always open to those with a want to perform. Poetry, Performance and Music, finely tuned or wildly improvised.

SAN CISCO
Fremantle based indie-poppers San Cisco present their brand new single Awkward, from their forthcoming second EP.
Recorded in Melbourne with super producer Steven Schram (Little Red, Cat Empire, Little Birdy), Awkward was written in the studio one afternoon and features the debut vocals of drummer Scarlett Stevens.
Awkward is a kooky call & response between Scarlett & Jordi – all fictional, of course! San Cisco have had a busy 2011, showcasing at both FUSE Festival in Adelaide and BIGSOUND in Brisbane. Along with some tip top performances at Big Day Out, Laneway & Groovin’ the Moo, San Cisco enjoyed supporting Architecture in Helsinki, The Grates, Jebediah & Kimbra.
Their debut EP Golden Revolver has received glowing reviews in Australia & internationally, with single Golden Revolver played on radio stations all over the country & throughout the USA.
San Cisco are looking forward to Jordi finishing high school in November, and some awesome gigs in December touring with Emma Louise in WA & hitting the East Coast for Pyramid Rock & Peats Ridge Festivals.
The Date has been busy over their one-and-a-half year career having independently released both their first E.P. (MPD To Me), and their latest E.P. (Rob Bury), with the ’Rob Bury Launch held at the Fly By Night in Fremantle.
The Date combine groove-laden rock riffs with a catchy pop choruses and are an exciting an innovative band with a great live presence and show.
Blues-based rock has been a radio staple for years, and the band are self-confessed afficionados. However, their own take at the genre has evolved into something quite distinctive; it’s a rock sound with pop sensibilities, lyrically rich with a no-nonsense delivery.
The members, David Moran (bass and vocal), Rob Susanto (guitar) and Mark Thomas (drums) are no strangers to the live music and recording scene, having been in numerous original bands nationally & internationally, such as 'Skidaddle' (Perth), 'Express to Richmond' (Melbourne) and 'Luton Lads' (UK).
